PROJECT SUMMARY
Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST) is a research university with an ambition to cultivate an academic environment and become a benchmark for the Egyptian and African countries in education. It was first established as a bilateral agreement project between the Egyptian and Japanese governments in May 2009 and later in 2010 it was ready to accept its first batch of students and make the dream a reality. In view of that, E-JUST has established the Liberal Arts and Culture Center (LACC), as an independent academic body, to promote high quality liberal arts education. The LACC aspires to become a leader to promote liberal arts education among the universities in Egypt and MENA region, and known its unique liberal arts programs with a strong research ground. The LACC consists of four units: (1) education and culture unit, (2) inter- and multi-disciplinary research unit, (3) faculty development unit, and (4) community engagement unit. The current project could be considered as an inter- and multi-disciplinary research project, on the one hand, and as a community engagement project, on the other.
